C.E.R.A. Leslie Ernest Beer, R.N., was mentioned in despatches for his services when the repair ship H.M.S. Albatross was struck by a torpedo off Courselles, France, on 11 August 1944. The recommendation reads, ‘For outstanding efficiency and initiative in raising steam and running auxiliary machinery very short handed’. Sold with copied report of the attack and recommendation.
