Arthur Maxey was born in Bedford, and living in Rugby, Warwickshire, enlisted at Bedford. Serving as a Sapper with the Royal Engineers, he entered the Egypt theatre of war on 12 July 1915. Serving with the 68th Field Company, Royal Engineers, he died of wounds, France/Flanders, on 9 October 1917. He was buried in Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
