Private Derrick William Kennedy-Taylor, 3rd Battalion A.I.F., enlisted at Bathurst, N.S.W. and was killed in action in Gallipoli, 6 August 1915, the opening day of the Battle of Lone Pine, aged 21 years. (The CWGC states sometime between 6-12 August 1915). Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial. He was the son of Captain William Kennedy-Taylor, R.A.M.C.

William Kennedy-Taylor was appointed a Temporary Captain in September 1915 and an Acting Major in February 1918.
