Memorial Plaque 1914-18 (Charles William Froome) nearly extremely fine £140-180

D.C.M. London Gazette 21 June 1916. ‘For consistent good and gallant work throughout’.

Charles William Froome was born in Kensington, the son of Charles William and Catherine Mary Froome. Living in Shepherds Bush, he enlisted at Westminster. Serving as Company Sergeant-Major 550004 with 1st/16th Battalion London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles) he gained the D.C.M. As C.S.M. of “B” Company he was killed in action on the 1st day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916, aged 44 years. He was buried in the Gommecourt British Cemetery. He was the husband of Fanny Elizabeth Froome of 26 Raymond Avenue, West Ealing, London.
