Memorial Plaque 1914-18 (George Sydney Corbyn) very fine £120-160

George Sydney Corbyn was born in Norwich and enlisted at Redmire, Sheffield. Serving as Acting Sergeant 12/1174 in the 12th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment (Sheffield Pals), he was killed in action on the 1st day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916, aged 33 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the brother of Mr H. H. Corbyn of 12 Sherrington Road, Ipswich.
