William Valentine Eden enlisted at Westminster on 28 February 1871, aged 20 years, and served for 12 years with the 44th Regiment. He arrived in India in November 1871 aboard S.S. Malaba. At the time of his marriage in April 1883, he was a Colour Sergeant with the 44th Regiment. By 1885 he was a Sergeant Instructor with the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment and Acting Sergeant-Major with the Bangalore Volunteer Rifles. Sold with some copied research notes.
