Godfrey Davis was born in Chichester, Sussex, on 3 Jnauary 1879. An Agricultural Labourer by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class on 7 September 1898. He served on Terrible, September 1899-October 1902, being advanced to Stoker in October 1899. He was promoted to Stoker 1st Class in July 1906 when on the Ariadne, leading Stoker in April 1909 when on the Victory. During the Great War he served on the battleship Hercules, September 1913-July 1918. Davis was invalided with tuberculosis on 5 September 1918. Sold with copied service paper and roll extract.
