Frederick William Emery Cable was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk, on 10 April 1874. He entered the Royal Marines as Private 6404 on 10 October 1891 and served as such until March 1895 when he transferred to the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class. Promoted to Stoker in April 1896, he served on the Barfleur, October 1898-January 1902, being advanced to Leading Stoker 2nd Class in March 1900. He was promoted to Leading Stoker 1st Class when on Pembroke II in April 1902, and to Ship’s Corporal 1st Class when on Pembroke I in July 1904. Cable served throughout the Great War and was demobilised in March 1919. Sold with copied service papers and roll extract.
