India General Service 1854-95, 2 clasps, Burma 1885-7, Burma 1887-89 (35347 Gunr. E. Hopkins, No. 4 By. 1st Bde. La. Dn. R.A.) claw tightened/refitted, otherwise very fine £100-140

Edwin Hopkins was born in Warwick. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for short service in the Royal Artillery at Warwick on 21 October 1882, aged 22 years. He served in India and Burma, September 1883-November 1894. Serving as a Gunner in the 25th Company Royal Garrison Artillery, he was discharged on 20 October 1903, at Pembroke Dock. At his discharge he was in possession of the I.G.S. with two clasps and the L.S. & G.C. Medal. Sold with a number of copied service papers; a riband bar and an original newspaper clipping giving details of the funeral of Quartermaster-Sergeant Hopkins, Paymaster-Sergeant of the 2nd Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment.
