George Henry Neville was born in 1830, the second son of Charles Neville and Lady Georgina Bingham (youngest daughter of the 2nd Earl of Lucan). He joined the 12th Foot as an Ensign in February 1847 but soon transferred to the 29th Foot. With them he saw action in the Second Sikh War and was slightly wounded at Chilianwala. He returned to the 12th Foot in 1949 with the rank of Lieutenant and later transferred to the 7th Royal Fusiliers, gaining his Captaincy in March 1855. George Henry Neville inherited the family estates (Kewland Hall, Henley, Ipswich, Suffolk) on the death of his brother in 1896. He died in 1906.
