Waterloo 1815 (John Crawley, 28th Regiment Foot) fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, minor handling marks, otherwise nearly extremely fine £2000-2500

John Crawley was born at Kells, Co. Meath, and enlisted into the 28th Foot on 10 May 1805, aged 25. He was wounded at the battle of Waterloo in 1815, and was transferred to the 6th Royal Veteran Battalion in January 1816, from which corps he was discharged at Cork on 24 March 1816, in consequence of ‘gun shot left side & left hand.’ He was subsequently admitted to the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, as an out-pensioner. Sold with copy discharge papers and other research.
