Joseph Johnson was born at Forksay, Lincoln, and enlisted at Limerick on 23 May 1806, aged 18, for unlimited service. During his total service of 21 years 249 years, he was a Corporal for 5 years 208 days and a Sergeant for his final 9 years 207 days. He was discharged at Dublin on 28 November 1827, suffering from ‘chronic affection of the liver with an enlargement of that organ, the effects of a residence of eighteen years in India.’ Sold with copy discharge papers.
