Charles I (1625-1649), Tower mint, Pattern Shilling, Gp D, by an unknown artist, in silver, mm. portcullis, crowned bust in collar and armour with ribbon of the lesser George, arches of crown plain, rev. almost round scroll-garnished shield, 6.04g/6h (SCBI Brooker 1265, same dies; N 2698). Extremely fine with most attractive blue/grey tone, very rare (£1,500-2,000)
