Charles I (1625-1649), Tower mint, Shilling, Gp C, mm. plume, larger bust, mantle breaks inner circle, tassel more detailed, rev. oval scroll-garnished shield with rose petal at base, plume between c r at top, 5.76g/11h (Sharp C3/5; SCBI Brooker 467, same dies; N 2222; S 2788). A piece of fine work from carefully engraved dies with guide lines within both inner and outer beaded circles, well-centred on a round flan, obverse with hairline scratches, profile, beard and ruff tooled, about fine, reverse good fine, extremely rare (£300-400)
