Charles I (1625-1649), Tower mint, Shilling, Gp C, mm. rose (over plume on rev.), similar, rev. oval scroll-garnished shield with large lis on top between c r, 6.03g/3h (Sharp C2/5; SCBI Brooker –; N 2222; S 2788). A piece of fine work from carefully engraved dies with guide lines within both inner and outer beaded circles of reverse, well-centred on an almost round flan, sometime gilt, otherwise about very fine, reverse better, very rare (£800-1,000)
