London, South Kensington: International Fisheries Exhibition, 1883, a silver medal by L.C. Wyon and L.F. Day for Pinches, veiled and coronetted bust of Victoria left, the legend removed and engraved (Awarded to Florence Gardner, for the late Mrs Gardner’s collection of Corals & Sponges, Oct. 1883), rev. various types of fish, some in a net, 45mm (BHM 3153; E 1694; Allen Pt 3). Very fine and very unusual as a named medal; in original maroon gilt-blocked case of issue [base damaged] (£70-100)
