Bombay or Bengal Irregular Light Cavalry (?), c1857-61, a fine and scarce officer’s silver plated multi-part pouch belt plate, Guelphic crown over laurels enclosing a double star of eight and six points respectively, with central monogram BLC, complete with shaped backing plate and four screw fasteners, stamped ‘Ranken & Co’ plus the HEIC lion/crown in an oval cartouche, very good condition £300-400

The lack of battle honours indicates an irregular or emergency raised unit; Beatson’s or Benares Horse, Behar Irregular Cavalry are other possibles.
