Royal Navy officer’s sword, an interesting Georgian naval officers fighting sword, by Prosser, the deeply curved short 63cm blade with faint traces of blued and gilt decoration incorporating a dragon sun and moon etc the wide flat T-backed blade back-edged and with pronounced clipped-back point, copper-gilt stirrup guard with additional scrolling side guards set with an oval cartouche with a fine stippled ground applied with a silver fouled anchor, plain backstrap and fluted ferrule, plain ivory grip, complete with its black leather blind-tooled scabbard retaining its three copper-gilt mounts, with simple linnear decoration the top locket fitted with frog-stud and engraved makers cartouche ‘Prosser late Cullum sword cutler & etc belt maker to the ‘King & HRH Duke of York Charing Cross London’ and the bottom chape shaped to the clipped-back point of the blade, blade now discoloured, some wear to gilding especially to pommel and bottom chape otherwise good condition £550-650
