An officer’s presentation sword of the 2nd London Rifle Volunters, 1827 pattern rifle regiment, the straight 82cm blade of levee weight by Edward Thurkle, 5 Denmark Street, Soho, London, etched with crowned VR cypher intricate foliate scrolls strung bugle‘ owners crest and within panel a presentation inscription ‘2nd LRV presented to Captain L M Cantlon by the officers non-commissioned officers & men of I company as a mark of their esteem & regard & in recognition of his zeal & energy while in command of the company January 24th 1882’, regulation plated hilt incorporating strung bugle fish-skin covered grip bound with silver wire, complete with its plated steel scabbard, blade retaining almost all original finish minor wear to plating otherwise good condition £300-350
