Rifle Brigade officer’s presentation sword,1827 pattern, slightly curved 82cm blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, No.13409 for 1864 etched with crowned foliate scrolls VR cypher, strung bugle and owners crest & monogram and within ribbon a presentation incription ‘Cecil Harley St Paul from Colonel Sir John Jones KCB, August 16th 1864’ regulation steel mounted hilt incorporating strung bugle, fish-skin covered grip bound with copper wire, worn overall & lacking scabbard £100-150

Cecil Harley St Paul, was commisioned into the rifle brigade in 1864, he served in the Afghan War and in Burma, promoted to Lieut-Colonel in 1891 he retired in 1895.
