Cavalry officer’s sword, a good 1821 pattern light cavalry officers sword for an officer of the 10th Prince of Wales’s Own Hussars the 90cm flat solid blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, No 12896 for 1863, back-edged for the last 30cm etched with crowned intwined VR cypher owners crest & initials ‘HC’ within cartouche and regimental device with POW feathers ‘X Royal Hussars’ and battle honours to ‘Sevastopol’ regulation 3 bar steel guard, chequered pommel, fish-skin covered grip bound with silver wire, brown leather sword knot, complete with its steel mounted leather covered scabbard, some service wear overall £500-600

Wilkinson proof books record sword no 12896 as a ‘flat solid medium light cavalry‘ 4th December 1863 sold to ‘Honble Crichton’

The Hon. Henry George Crichton, was commisioned as a Cornet into the 10th hussars in June 1863.
