An good English silver mounted hanger, circa 1760 the 56cm slightly curved blade with double fullers, recurved quillons chased with foliage, quillon block deeply chased with hunting scenes of dogs, etc., pommel with chased stags head, fluted ferrule, fine spirally reeded green stained ivory grip, complete with its silver mounted leather scabbard the top locket chased with dogs within scrolls, the chape en-suite, the top locket also dot incribed ‘Bennett & Son Royall (sic) Exch’ scabbard distressed, top locket lacking frog-stud otherwise good condition £500-600
John Bennett is recorded at this address circa 1760, he was master of the Cutler’s Company in 1750.
