William Bond was born in Wandsworth, and living in Dalston, Essex, enlisted at Winchester. Serving with the 16th Battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps, he was awarded the Military Medal for Bravery in the field. He was presented with the ribbon of the M.M. by the Divisional Commander at Neuve Eglise, on 6 November 1917. With the same battalion, he died of wounds on 13 April 1918. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium. Sold with a folder of copied research.
