Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (41573 Sjt., 1/Essex R.); British War and Victory Medals (1775 Sjt., Norf. R.); Territorial Force War Medal 1914-19 (29469 Sjt., Norf. R.); Defence Medal 1939-45; Belgian Croix de Guerre, contact wear and polished, therefore generally nearly very fine or better (6) £1400-1600

D.C.M. London Gazette 26 January 1918 ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his company was held up during an attack by machine-gun fire from a blockhouse some 1,500 yards in front he immediately volunteered to attack it, and collecting a party, led them across the open under heavy fire. Owing to his prompt action the blockhouse surrendered, and throughout the whole action he displayed splendid gallantry and leadership.’
