Alfred Edward Mills was born in Amerley, Surrey, and living in Lambeth, enlisted at London. Serving with the 2nd Battalion London Regiment, he was killed in action on 1 July 1916 - the 1st day of the battle of the Somme. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Sold with original medal forwarding slip addressed to ‘Mr A. Mills’.
