Alfred Edward Attle was on in Hull on 26 September 1891. During the Great War he served as a Steward with the Merchant Navy and Mercantile Fleet Auxiliary. In the Second World War he was Chief Steward aboard the S.S. City of Wellington when she was sunk by the German submarine U.506 on 21 August 1942 when on a voyage from Mossel Bay to Freetown. Probably as a result of this, Attle died on 20 May 1945. His remains were placed in Hull Crematorium. He was the son of William Henry Attle Sarah and husband of Isabella Attle, all of Hull. Sold with original named Ministry of Transport condolence slip and copied service papers and research.
