Albert Allen was born in Norton, Derbyshire and enlisted at Chesterfield, serving originally as Private 20738 in the Hussars Regiment. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Suffolk Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 18 August 1918, aged 21 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial. He was the son of Mrs Fanny Allen of Lightwood Lane, Norton, Sheffield.
