John Lister, who was born near Scarborough, enlisted in the Imperial Yeomanry in February 1900, aged 21 years. He subsequently served out in South Africa with the Base Company, I.Y. from March of the latter year until June 1901, when he was discharged; accompanying copy of medal roll entry, dated June 1905, confirms his entitlement to the above described Queen’s South Africa Medal and clasps.
