William Griffiths was born in Liverpool. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for service in the East Lancashire Regiment at Seaforth on 10 October 1899, aged 18 years. With the 1st Battalion he served in South Africa, 28 June 1900-25 April 1902, and in India, 26 April 1902-23 October 1906. He was discharged from the Army in October 1906. Sold with copied service papers. With nameplate, in modern presentation case.
