A group of three awarded to Petty Officer Mechanic A. Waller, Royal Naval Air Service, who was awarded the Russian Medal for Zeal for services with the Armoured Cars in Russia

Alfred Waller, of 52 Langley Road, Eastbourne, was employed as a Driver and Mechanic. He joined the R.N.A.S. on 9 November 1913. As a Petty Officer Mechanic he joined No.3 Squadron in November 1915 and on 1 December embarked for Russia. His official record of service states:

‘Aug.-Sept. 1916 On detached service on Caucasian Front. Haskoi. Nov.-Dec. On detached service in Dobrudsha. Topolul Ambulance Transport. Dec.-15 January 1917. On detached service in Roumania. Tudor Vladimerescu. ? April. Left Tiraspol base for England. 8 May 1917 Arrived in England. 25.6.17 Embarked for Russia. 2nd Aug. Returned to Squadron at Brovary Base. Sept. Left Brovary for Kursk Base. 15th Oct. Awarded Silver Breast Medal with St. Stanislaus ribbon. 8.2.18 Arrived in England. 5.5.18 Discharged’. Sold with copied service record.
