William Boyd was one of 83 men in the Frontier Light Horse to qualify for the “1877-8-9” clasp; one of four in Prince Alfred’s Volunteer Guard to qualify for both the “Transkei” and “Basutoland” clasps, and one of around 100 men awarded the Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902 for services in the Cookhouse Town Guard.
