With the Royal Tank Corps he served in France and was evacuated from Dunkirk. He was promoted to Captain in the R.A.O.C. in 1941 and Acting Major in the R.E.M.E. in 1943. He was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 20 December 1940), granted the Efficiency Decoration (London Gazette April 1950) and was awarded the M.S.M. in 1963. Major Probert died in Worcester in December 1976. Sold with a quantity of copied research.
