General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, E.II.R. (22546912 Tpr. W. T. Baxter, S.A.S.), regiment officially corrected, nearly extremely fine £480-520

Sold with some 58 original photographs taken in Malaya, most annotated by the recipient; together with a few other papers, including two sheets of notepaper on which the recipient (?) has written details of his service before that in Malaya. Also with unnamed card box of issue.

‘Enlisted at 171/2 years at War Office, Whitehall, London, 20th December 1950 in the Green Jackets (Rifle Brigade). Done initial training at Winchester (Bulford Camp). Uneventful time! Except for D.R. course, never ridden a motor bike before so it was quite an experiance. Volunteered for S.A.S. about March ‘51. Posted in the middle of year (51) to Munster, Germany, I lasted 6 weeks utter boredom, I hated it, luckily my posting came thro for S.A.S. Posted again back to England and on to the Para Barracks, Aldershot where we waited kicking our heels and getting into mischief ..... until we numbered 26 before sailing to Malaya on H.M.S.
Windrush. 31 days of sickness later we landed at Singapore’.
