British War Medal 1914-20 (Payr. Capt. G. Graham, R.N.) about very fine £40-60

Gilbert Graham, appointed Assistant Clerk, R.N., 15 July 1883; Assistant Paymaster, 21 October 1887; Paymaster, 5 October 1899; Staff Paymaster, 5 October 1903, and Fleet Paymaster 5 October 1907. Was Clerk of the Turquoise during the military and aal operations in the Eastern Sudan, at Suakin 1884-5 (Queen’s medal with clasp and Khedive’s Star). As Fleet Paymaster on the Exmouth, he was present at the rescue operations following the Messina Earthquake and was awarded the Order of the Crown of Italy Commander’s badge and the Messina Earthquake Medal. Believed to have been awarded the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus 2nd Class with swords by 1917.
