Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Johannesburg (430 St. Serjt. J. Ogg, S.A.C.) good very fine £70-90

James Ogg was born near Banff, Aberdeenshire. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for the Lincolnshire Regiment on 10 November 1891, aged 19 years. He had previously served in the 1st Volunteer Battalion Cameron Highlanders. With the 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment he served in the Straits and Settlements, December 1892-March 1895 and in South Africa, January 1900-July 1902. Promoted to Lance-Corporal in September 1892, he was reduced for misconduct in July 1894 but restored to his rank in October 1897. He served with the South African Constabulary, 29 October 1900-31 May 1902 and attained the rank of Staff Serjeant. Ogg was discharged from the Army in July 1902. Sold with copied service papers and extracts from rolls.
