Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, 14 Dec Boat Service 1814 (Richard K. Barnes, Lieut. R.M.) contained in an old but later fitted case, original ribbon, minor handling marks, otherwise brilliant extremely fine £4000-5000

Richard Knowles Barnes was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Marines on 6 March 1810. He was present in the boats of H.M.S. Bedford at the attack on New Orleans, 14 December 1814, for which he received the medal and clasp some 35 years later. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in June 1828, to Captain in April 1838, and was placed on half-pay in November 1840. Captain Barnes died in 1867.
