Pilgrim Edward Lockwood was awarded his D.S.M. for bravery in the H.M. Trawler
Norse during the period 10-19 May 1940, when she operated out of Sheerness as part of Minesweeping Group 121. So, too, one of his shipmates, while six others received “mentions”, the relevant recommendations regularly referring to their ship being bombed or machine-gunned. By July 1941, the Norse had joined Minesweeping Group 158 in the Mediterranean, but Lockwood was able to return home to attend an investiture held on 26 September 1941.
