Five: Gunner D. K. Lloyd, Royal Field Artillery

1939-45 Star; Africa Star, clasp, 8th Army; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals, unnamed as issued, mounted as worn, good very fine (5) £50-70

David Kenneth Lloyd was born in Penygraig on 30 September 1919. A miner by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Field Artillery at Pontypridd on 5 January 1938. With them he served as Gunner 876116 in France with the B.E.F., 24 September 1939-31 May 1940. After a period on home service, he then served in North Africa and Sicily, 13 June 1943-5 June 1944, before again returning to home service. His Service Book also records that he served for a time with the paratroops. He was discharged on 20 November 1944 due to ‘Ceasing to fullfil Army physical requirements’. Dying c.1952, his widow lived at ‘15 Greenfield Street, Penygraig, Rhondda’.

Sold with Regular Army Certificate of Service, Soldier’s Service and Pay Book and several Ministry of Pensions letters.
