William Gray was born in Starthmiglo, Fifeshire and enlisted at Lochgelly, Fifeshire. Serving with the 7th (Fife) Battalion Royal Highlanders, firstly as Private 4055then as Private 291166, he died of wounds on 30 November 1918. His name is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial. Sold with original commemorative scroll, medal forwarding slip and photograph of the recipient.
