Sold with an Irish Fusilier collar badge and an identity disk named to ‘8774 J. Graham, C.E., R.I.F.’ For his son’s medals, see lot 850.

Also with another identity disk named to ‘Pte. M. Gracie, Pres., 14168, H.L.I.’ Matthew Gracie was born in Dumbarton and enlisted at Glasgow. Serving with the 17th Battalion Highland Light Infantry, he died on 30 October 1918, aged 28 years. He was buried in the Berlin South-Western Cemetery. He was the son of Matthew and Euphemie Lochhart Gracie of Dumbarton, and the husband of Annie Wilson Logan (formerly Gracie), of 36 George Drive West, Govan, Glasgow.
