Tredwell John Houghton-Grey, Advocate of the High Court of Southern Rhodesia, was the recipient of a uniquely named Queen's South Africa Medal that is confirmed on the relevant roll. Born in 1869, he was educated at Charterhouse (also Baden-Powell's old school) and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He became a Barrister in 1894 and was practising in Grahamstown when he enlisted in Nesbitt's Horse on the outbreak of the Boer War. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, he served with them until 1902, when he joined the Field Intelligence Department as an Agent. He also resumed his legal career after the war and was appointed an Advocate of the Supreme Court, Cape Colony, in 1902, and Eastern Districts, 1904; and of the High Court in Southern Rhodesia in 1906.
