British South Africa Company Medal 1890-97, reverse Rhodesia 1896 (4492 Pte., 1/R. Dub. Fus.), later style engraved naming; Queen’s South Africa 1899-19021 clasp, Relief of Ladysmith (4492 Pte., Rl. Dub. Fus.) first with contact marks and some edge bruising, nearly very fine and better (2) £350-450

4492 Private J. O’Keefe confirmed as one of only 33 officers and men of the 1st Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers (Mounted Infantry) to be awarded the B.S.A. Co. Medal for Rhodesia 1896. The published roll additionally states: ‘Duplicate medal issued 17/11/1903’. When serving in the Boer War with the 2nd Battalion, Private O’Keefe was wounded at the battle of Colenso, 15 December 1899.
