Pair: Petty Officer 1st Class T. Ware, Royal Navy

Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, no clasp (Lg. Sean., H.M.S. Agincourt); Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., narrow suspension (P.O. 1st Cl., H.M.S. Penelope), last with correction to ship’s name, good very fine and better (2) £160-200

Thomas Ware was born on 11 April 1859 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy in September 1875. He was promoted to Ordinary Seaman in August 1877 when serving on the Agincourt, and advanced to Able Seaman when on the same ship in August 1879. Promoted to Leading Seaman when on the Royal Adelaide in April 1882; his next posting was on the Agincourt, May 1882-October 1885, during which time he served in Egyptian waters. He was promoted to Petty Officer 2nd Class in March 1884 and Petty Officer 1st Class when on the Monarch in October 1885. Petty Officer Ware was pensioned ashore on 10 April 1897.
