Jaspar Proudlock was born in Rothburn, Morpeth, Northumberland. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Royal Horse Guards at Marylebone on 13 June 1876, aged 20 years, 10 months. Serving with them in Egypt, 1 August-25 September 1882, he was severely wounded in the head at Kassassin on 28 August 1882. On 16 November 1883, as a consequence of his wound, he was discharged as medically unfit (suffering from ‘Melancholia’). Sold with copied service and medical papers.
