A Prussian Officer’s Iron Cross 1870 group of six

Prussia, Iron Cross 1870, 2nd Class, with 25th Anniversary oak leaves; War Merit Medal 1864, silver, suspension repaired; Campaign Cross 1866, for Könniggrätz; Campaign Medal 1870-71, 6 clasps (in one block), Spicheren, Vionville-Mars la Tour, Gravelotte-St. Privat, Metz, Orléans, Le Mans, suspension repaired; Officer’s L.S. Cross, for 25 years; Centenary Medal 1897, mounted German style as worn, second pitted and with some edge bruising, nearly very fine; others very fine and better (6) £550-600

A note with the lot states: ‘[During] 1870-71 probably served in III Corps. Wear on the War Merit Medal of 1864 indicates it was likely to have been an ‘1866’ award’. A fine group with two decorations and a wide span of clasps for the 1870/71 War.
