Royal Humane Society, large bronze medal (successful) (Willm. Richardson, Boatsn, H.M.S. “Boscawen” 3rd May 1862), fitted with a ring suspension, very fine £140-180
William Richardson, Boatswain, H.M.S. Boscawen, effected the rescue of Alfred Drew, a Boy of the same ship, at sea off Southampton, on 3 May 1862. The boy accidently fell overboard and Richardson jumped overboard, swam to his assistance and rescued him. (Ref. R.H.S. Case 16859).
