Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (2089 T. Wyatt, 1st Bn. 16th Regt.) ‘2’ double struck, with ornate silver brooch bar, minor edge bruising, good very fine £80-100

Thomas Wyatt was born in Southampton. A Shoemaker by trade, he attested for the 16th Regiment on 25 September 1842, aged 18 years. He served 21 years in the Army, 13 of which were overseas, serving in Gibraltar, the Ionian Islands, the West Indies and Canada. Wyatt served as a Private in the 16th Regiment from September 1842 to March 1862 and was then in the Royal Canadian Rifles, April 1862-October 1863. He was finally discharged on 1 December 1863, having in his possession five Good Conduct Badges and the L.S. & G.C. Medal (awarded in 1861) with a gratuity of £5. Sold with copied discharge papers and other research.
