1914-15 Star (9014 Pte. G. Fletcher, S. Staff. R.); Mercantile Marine 1914-18 (Patrick Rochford); South Africa Medal for War Service, unnamed, very fine and better (3) £50-70

Godrey Fletcher was born in Bloxworth, and living in Walsall, enlisted at Boxworth. Serving with the 1st/5th South Staffordshire Regiment he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 5 March 1915. He was killed in action on 11 July 1915, aged 24 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the husband of Kate Whitehouse (formerly Fletcher) of 60 Lichfield Road, New Invention, Wolverhampton. Sold with copied research including war diary extract which lists Private Fletcher as a a casualty.
