Phillip Towner, who was born in Hackney and enlisted in the Middlesex Regiment at Stratford, Essex, was killed in action on 16 June 1915, while serving in the 4th Battalion. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
