Army of India 1799-1826, 1 clasp, Ava (Lieut. Chas. Bradford, 28th N.I.) short hyphen reverse, officially impressed naming, good very fine £800-1000

Charles Bradford was born in the Parish of Abbot’s Langley, Hertfordshire, and was baptized there in October 1803. He was admitted onto the Madras Establishment as an Ensign on 13 February 1821, and posted to the 14th (re-numbered 28th) Native Infantry in June 1821. Promoted Lieutenant in July 1823, he served with the 28th Madras N.I. during the First Burmese War. He was promoted to Captain in December 1834 but retired due to ill-health in January 1836. Captain Bradford died on 26 April 1879. Sold with copy Cadet papers and service record.
